Support should fit the person—
not the other way around.

We work alongside each individual, their family, guardian, and support team to create a home life shaped by personal goals, preferences, strengths, and assessed needs.

Two paths. One standard of care.

Support is delivered according to the individual’s approved Plan for Supports and authorized service level.

Understanding how services are funded.

Virginia’s Medicaid Developmental Disability Waivers authorize home- and community-based supports. Eligibility and service authorization are determined through the individual’s support-planning process.

CL

Community Living Waiver

Designed for people who require residential and other supports, including individuals with complex medical or behavioral support needs.

May authorize supported living and group home residential services.
FIS

Family & Individual Supports Waiver

Supports people living with family, friends, or in their own homes who need functional, medical, or behavioral assistance.

May authorize supported living residential services when appropriate.
Important distinction

Medicaid waiver payments cover authorized support services. Room, board, food, and ordinary living expenses are handled separately under a written residency or lease arrangement.

A connected circle of support.

Quality residential support depends on clear coordination among the individual, family, public agencies, and community partners.
